Open Call for Applications to the Freedom Online Coalition’s Advisory Network

The Freedom Online Coalition (FOC) is pleased to announce an open call for applications for its FOC Advisory Network’s (AN). The AN is looking for four new members to join its second cohort, whose two-year term will begin 1 March 2020.

The FOC-AN serves as a key mechanism for the Coalition to engage regularly with non-governmental Internet stakeholders. It is a platform for multistakeholder dialogue which, independently of FOC members, provides advice to FOC governments on the work of the Coalition, organizes multistakeholder collaboration around FOC activities, and explores possibilities for cooperation to advance human rights online.

You can find the FOC-AN’s Terms of Reference here.

The second Advisory Network cohort shall be selected by the incumbent AN members in consultation with the FOC Friends of the Chair through an open application process administered by the FOC Support Unit.

Selection shall be guided by stakeholder group balance, gender balance, geographic balance, commitment to the values of the FOC (including respect for the right to freedom of expression and rights to association, assembly, and privacy online worldwide) and relevant expertise. The applicant criteria will include commitment to the FOC’s mission and values and the ability to contribute to the Coalition’s work.

Applications from developing and least developed countries are actively encouraged. Please note that participation in the Advisory Network is voluntary, and membership is open to non-governmental stakeholders only. Applicants may apply to serve in their individual capacity or as a representative of their organization, and this should be noted in the application.

Interested individuals are now invited to apply through completing this form. The call will remain open until COB Friday, 24 January. Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome by early February.
