Following an open call for members and the subsequent selection process, the Freedom Online Coalition is excited to announce the membership of the Coalition’s new multistakeholder body, the FOC Advisory Network (FOC-AN).
The first Advisory Network cohort has been selected by the Advisory Network Chartering Group*, through an open application process administered by the FOC Support Unit. Sixty high-quality applications were received, which were then assessed, guided by stakeholder group balance, gender balance, geographic balance, commitment to the values of the FOC (including respect for the right to freedom of expression and rights to association, assembly, and privacy online worldwide) and relevant expertise.
In the interests of inclusivity and diversity, the membership of the group has been extended from 25 members, to 30 members, inclusive of the interim co-chairs, Katharine Kendrick and Matthew Shears. For more information about the group, you can find the FOC-AN’s Terms of Reference here.
Following this process, twenty-eight new non-governmental representatives will be joining the interim FOC-AN co-Chairs to commence the group’s work.
