The FOC is proud to present its Program of Action for the rest of 2017. It sets out the Coalition’s mission statement, and objectives within this period.
This document represents the efforts of the Coalition to be more forward-looking and action-oriented in its work. The Program of Action builds on the progress the Coalition has made in streamlining its internal operating procedures and clarifying its primary activity areas in the new “Stockholm terms of Reference”. Both the Stockholm Terms of Reference and the subsequent Program of Action have been created through consultation with stakeholders at RightsCon 2017, and Stockholm Internet Forum 2017.
The Coalition will focus its diplomatic work and activities on the following objectives:
- To promote global norms that seek to prevent and limit state-sponsored restrictions to human rights online
- To support civil society voices online
Activities under these two objectives will be structured around the Coalition’s three primary activity areas:
- Strengthening coordination and cooperation among Members, as well as with outside stakeholders who share the Coalition’s objectives, with added focus on fostering cross-regional diplomacy through employing local networks;
- Shaping global norms on human rights online through joint statements;
- Holding periodic convenings with Members and other stakeholders.
Updates on the implementation of the Program of Action for 2017 will be communicated via the FOC website and the monthly FOC Newsletter, including opportunities for stakeholder engagement.
