Joint FOC Local Paris Network and FOC Meeting, November 2018

On Monday 12 November 2018, capital and local representatives of the FOC met for a joint meeting, hosted by the German delegation to UNESCO. H.E. Mr Stefan Krawielicki, Germany’s Ambassador to UNESCO, provided a welcome address to Members. In the meeting, Members discussed the Paris Network’s previous engagement with the FOC. Sweden noted that in 2013, following the Snowden revelations, Internet freedom issues emerged on the agenda of UNESCO, and in 2015, at the “Connecting the Dots Conference”, where the network provided input into the ROAM principles. More recently the FOC network at UNESCO had been revived under German Chairmanship, with a meeting of the network on 14 June 2018. Members additionally discussed possible future opportunities for engagement in 2019.
